Giacomo Puccini is one of opera’s most popular composers. His operas are famed worldwide for the drama and pathos of their plots, for their wonderful melodies and for the wealth of great roles they provide singers.
The Puccini Festival was started in 1930, and has been held annually ever since from mid July to mid August. The festival takes place in a the small village of Torre Del Lago near Lucca and Viarregio in Tuscany.
This incredible festival hosts over 400.000 enthralled spectators annually in a marvellous open air theatre which is situated just a stones throw away from where Puccini lived and worked.
